TRUMP”

In a country steeped in the culture of martyrdom, with a regime that has proven time and again it will not be bothered by death and destruction of its own people, this threat is unlikely to impress those in power. If anything, it will have the opposite effect, confirming that their strategy is working. Like virtually all the wars that the US has fought since WWII, the US military is winning every battle, but the US is losing most of the wars. Just think of Vietnam, Afghanistan and even Iraq, where Iranian backed militias still hold sway.

Trump has never believed in win-win solutions. His approach has always been total dominance by him and absolute submission by his opponent. That is why he cannot understand that Iran, after all the pain and suffering he has imposed on that country, fails to submit. Like a zombie, or like the knight in Monty Python’s “The Holy Grail” it keeps on fighting, even though it has lost first one arm then the second and so on.

Battles are fought and won by militaries; wars are an extension of politics by other means. In the US, the military is under the control of the civilian authorities, with the President being the Commander in Chief. The military executes the commands of the President; it does not decide to start or to end a war. According to the Constitution, it is only Congress that can decide to start a war. But Trump doesn’t care about the Constitution and the Republicans that sit in the House of Representatives and the Senat fail in their sworn duty to faithfully uphold the Constitution. They simply let Trump do whatever he wants to.

Now Trump has backed himself, the US and the World with him, into a corner. The US military may continue to bomb Iran, but that will not win the war. The war is currently being won by Iran, and I fail to see anything that might change this in the short to medium term.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Donald Trump is not well.
