It includes, but is not limited to:

Ukraine giving up all of Donbass, Luhansk and Donetsk, even the parts it currently controls, surrendering the fortifications it built there to the Russian army.

Ukraine recognizing the Krim definitely as being a part of Russia.

Ukraine limiting its army to half of its current size.

Not allowing any foreign troops, i.e. peacekeepers, in Ukraine.

Ukraine never to joining Nato.
…..

All in all, there are 28 points that have been discussed between the Trump administration and the Russians, without any input from the Europeans or the Ukrainians. It reads like Vladimir Putin’s Christmas list.

Whether this latest attempt to force Ukraine to capitulate to the Russian demands is an initiative of Steve Witkoff, Trumps buddy and travelling ambassador on anything, or whether it has been initiated by Trump himself is unclear. Either way it is an abrupt reversal. Most of the 28 points a clearly unacceptable to Ukraine and its European allies. They have been rejected many times in the past. Just as we thought Trump had finally agreed to increase sanctions on Russia and support the Ukraine, this latest reversal by the US President back to his typical pro-Russian stance, leaves our heads spinning.

It comes at a bad time for Zelenski. His government is weakened by a corruption scandal and on the front the Russians are making slow but steady progress.

Let’s be clear: Trying to force Ukraine to surrender to the Russian demands is not only morally wrong, but also strategically stupid. The Ukrainians are fighting not only for their independence, but also to keep Russia away from Western Europe’s borders. The Ukrainians are fighting our fight. Supporting them is the cheapest way for the West to protect itself from Russian aggression in the future.

Russia has taken an ever more aggressive stance towards Western Europe. A Russian spy ship is idling just outside of British territorial waters. Russian drones and fighter planes have entered European airspace repeatedly by “accident”. The hybrid war Russia is fighting against the West is in full swing. If Russia gets Ukraine, it will have an even better platform from which to fight this war.

Rewarding Russia for its naked aggression towards a small neighbor has consequences not only for Western Europe but for the rest of the World as well. It will encourage other ruthless actors, such as China for example, to try the same vis-à-vis other smaller entities. If the US is unwilling to help defend Europe from Russian aggression, what makes you think it will do anything if China decides to grab Taiwan?

If Trump succeeds in dictating such a surrender to Ukraine, we are all in for some very dark times.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

The latest “peace” plan for Ukraine that is being floated by the Trump administration is a catalogue of Russian demands dating back to 2022.
